Gluten Free Christmas Day Menu

I have finally sat down and figured out what we are having on our Christmas Day menu. We have a large family combined so it will be a busy day and instead of cooking different things for lunch and dinner, we cook it all for lunch and then have leftovers at dinner time. And because Christmas is at my house, I make the rules and my rule is that all food is to be gluten free so I can eat anything and everything. I want to actually groan that I have eaten too much food on Christmas Day, that never happens to me usually!

So all the food and dishes I mention below are gluten free, I shall link where I can.

Nibbles

I always have nibbles on the table. Our family has a very large appetite so I need food like this to fill them up. Plus there are several teenage nephews so they are never empty it seems.

  • Smith’s Chips -in Australia they are the plain blue packets
  • Lollies – the Coles and Woolworth ones I mention here
  • Plain Dorito’s – the green packet
  • Range of dips – the Yumi and Black Swan dips are usually gluten free – double  check the ingredients
  • Range of cheeses
  • Platter of cut up vegies
  • Rice crackers

Main Dishes

As I mentioned before, we just put it all out for lunch and then again for dinner

  • Corned beef done in slow cooker
  • Roast chicken
  • Ham
  • Baked potatoes – I also do these in slow cooker, wrap in foil and put on low for about 4 hours – serve with butter, corn, sour cream and grated cheese
  • roasted pumpkin salad
  • Risotto cakes – from Melindas, made these recently and they are soooo yummy
  • Roasted vegetable and goats cheese terrine – from AWW Christmas Cooking book
  • Spicy Potato and Chickpea Salad
  • Green beans
  • green salad

Desserts

  • Plum Pudding – yes it is gluten free! And it is so yummy.
  • Baked Cheesecake
  • Fresh Fruit Platter
  • Pavlova – I buy the shell of this and top with cream and strawberries and grated chocolate. I buy it as its a time saver and frees the oven. You can put any fruit on top.

Afters, with coffee

Should be enough I think. I hope so!
