School Years Memory Book

In a month and a few days I will become a mother to a big school kid! My eldest will be trotting off to school in his uniform, shiny black shoes and oversized backpack and leaving a complete wreck of a mum behind.

Anyway. As a scrapper at heart (not that I have any time to do such a thing at the moment) I knew I had to record these special times for him. He had kindergarten last year (which is like preschool – they go a few hours a couple of days a week) and the teachers kindly do a portfoilo which has art, work, special  events and photos which is wonderful but there are things I want to record as well and in a simple way please!

So I have been on the look out for quite awhile for some School Memory Books. I have come across some options, some that cost $0 – well just your paper and ink and some that cost $50. I was going to go with the DIY option because as much as I love the $50 one, well I knew I could find a cheaper one – surely.

And I did. I am happy to say that I found the one above at Target – in Australia folks (cause normally all the good stuff is in America or UK and we cannot get it here) for a super reasonable price of $10! I know! It has Kindergarten, Prep, then Grade 1 to Year 12 in it. It is a basic one but it is colourful, has pockets for art work and reports and spaces to write the teachers names, friends names, and things like what I want to be and what my favourite colour is. It even has a spot for a photo. Oh and there are some little stickers.

Here is a tip though, get it without your soon-to-start-school child knowing about it though otherwise they will fill all the spaces up already before they have even started.

If the idea of doing it all yourself is right up your alley, then check out Jade at Super Organiser Mum as she shows you how she set up her son’s school year book by using Becky Higgins free download.

I found this cute little download off Esty for 49 cents US. Pretty cool.

And I was eying this one off by Milestone Press – School Days. This one is $36.95 plus postage.

Do you keep School Memory Books for your children? I would love to know if you do and what sort.

oh and in case you were wondering, this is not a sponsored post, I got a little bargain I thought I would share with you

As it is bithday time around here I was filling in some stuff for Immy and Popps last night and noticed that the book for Popps is full, it goes til fifth birthday! After I accepted that my baby is really that old I wondered what options might be out there for this year. Though she is about to turn five she will be doing kindergarten so the school books may not suit.

I am thinking of putting some king together myself, only because I do tend to keep way too much.

Do you know if kikki k have one?

  2. Oh, I’m so hopeless at this – I don’t even keep their babies books up to date (guilt!!).

But don’t you go crying on the first day will you?? (yes you will! but try to be brave…he will have a ball!)

Thanks Cate – he will have a ball I know it but he won’t be there. At home. All day. Ever again. *sniff*
