Seriously they are. And they are not paying me to say that.
Let me tell you why. They have milk, white, dark chocolate that is free from gluten and they have a fantastic ingredient listing on their website.
I was out shopping last week and hubby picked up the turkish delight bar to check the ingredients, out of habit really as we realised long ago that my very favourite chocolate bar was out of reach.
Hubby told me that this particular bar had no gluten or wheat ingredients. No way I say. You are missing something.
So I check. He is right. I know from the website that the Turkish Delight bar is listed as having gluten. Surely they haven’t changed the ingredients? So I buy the bar because if they haven’t and there is gluten containing bars on the shelves with no indication on the label, I know they would want to know about it.
I email them and I got a surprising answer back. No the ingredients haven’t changed, check where it is made. If its made in New Zealand then the Turkish Delight bar has no gluten or wheat ingredients, however if it is made in Australia then it does.
I checked the bar I had bought, which was in Kmart in case anyone wants to know, and it said Made in New Zealand! Yippee! Down the hatch it went and I had no ill effects and I am a very sensitive coeliac.
I also asked them if there was anyway of knowing what stores would have the Made in New Zealand bars and they said no. Luck of the draw.
I have previously talked about gluten free chocolate and which brands are ok, the comments are invaluable!
I know that I thoroughly enjoyed my first Turkish Delight bar in 9 years.

All I can think is that it must be so difficult having to be careful and restrained about eating chocolate..That Turkish delight must have tasted amazing!
Yay for gluten free Turkish Delight! I LOVE that Fry’s Turkish delight and I would die if I couldn’t eat it!
We discovered CADBURY Gluten Free a little while ago. We still check the ingredient list though & if in doubt we email them. They are very good.

Here where I am IGA has been stocking the UK Fry’s Turkish Delight bars which were gluten free. I’ve been checking the supermarkets here and the newer batches seemed to come from NZ. Cadbury’s Milk Tray is also gluten free, I got some for a friend’s birthday earlier today – they switched production to NZ. Same should happen with Roses soon, but they’re still not GF.

Cadbury is good. I just munched down on a turkish delight bar from the UK! Best of all, I discovered there was no soy in this treat either! Just wish I could somehow find the Twirl Bites here now!

That’s awesome! My 9 year old is gluten intolerant & is bored with plain chocolate. Will keep an eye out for those (though if he doesn’t like it, then I’ll have it!)
Thanks for this. I *used to* (I’m sugar free now) love Turkish delights and I noticed that different size packages had different ingredients and I was left wondering why the heck that would be! To be honest that is a bit strange having the same product from two different locations. Talk about confusing!
