Planning With Kids Book Review and Giveaway!

The last time I was ill my hubby got me a surprise as I was feeling so down, he come home one day after visiting the shops and had a little surprise for me… it was the Planning with Kids book!

Planning With Kids is a book written by Nicole Avery, she  also writes at the blog with the same name.

Nicole needs little introduction in the blogger sphere. Her blog is one of the most popular Australian blogs, as well as writing the book, she has also helped organise 2 conferences, has appeared on The Circle twice and has had many speaking engagements.

As well as all of this, she is a wife and a mum to 5 kids! In her book she shares all of her planning and organising secrets, as well as tips and tricks on dealing with kids during different stages and even how to do a family budget.

Once you have read the book, I can understand that you may feel overwhelmed. Nicole has so many wonderful ways to help get organised, you may not know where to start first! But I love that Nicole herself says that she started small and just started with menu planning. Then once you feel comfortable with that then implement something else.

So I have taken that advice. As you all know I am a menu planner already and I love it. To know what you are cooking each day and have that stuff in the fridge/pantry already is such a life saver. So I know that its time to implement something else.

And I did. I have started a cleaning routine as per Nicole’s advice in the book. As boring as it sounds, its great because every Monday I clean the basins and showers, (for example) it takes next to no time as I do it every Monday and it makes me feel better because the cleaning is up to date.

The next thing I want to implement is the way Nicole does the family budget. I do one already, but is a simple spreadsheet but the way Nicole sets theirs up is brilliant and it shows you exactly where you are so you know. It sounds a little scary but Nicole explains it in such a way that you know that you can do it yourself.

The tips don’t stop there! Nicole shares her different routines for mornings and evenings, how to prepare for Christmas, preparing for the holidays, getting yourself some me time and much much more.

When I told Nicole I had bought her book and loved it so much that I had to write a review on it for you all, she offered to give one of my readers one in a giveaway! How lovely of her.

Have you tried woolworths homebrand potato wedges before, they say on the packet to deep fry them, but we just lay them on a tray in the oven at 180 degrees for approx 25 mins, turning once. The ingredients are potato and veg oil, they taste really nice, are cheap, thought you might want to check them out.

I’ve seen this book around and wasn’t prepared to buy it as it sounds too good to be true, but that comment of ‘start small’ is exactly how I started. I’ve been trying to do the housework once a week and that was working fine, but I’ve lost my way. My house is a total mess at the moment.

    I didn’t plan for this be a blog post on it’s own…seriously.
