When Deb from Home Life Simplified asked us to list our crushes from the past I was having trouble remembering really. It’s like my memory had blocked that part of my life out or something.
Then I remembered.
Kirk Cameron.
Oh my, I thought he was the bee’s knees. I just loved the show he was in Growing Pains and taped every episode and watched them over and over. It was his supposed charm and good looks that I liked.
I dug through my things and found one of my school diaries, which we used to ‘personalise’. (see I was scrappin’ even back then) . I actually saw Growing Pains again recently and I thought the character that Kirk played was a real brat. The parental character’s put up with a lot, even for a tv show.
So where is Kirk now? He done a little more acting but nothing mainstream, he is an outspoken Christian and well, you can read more on his Wikipedia page, if it’s all true. I am not sure I like him any more now, even though I think he is still good looking.
My crush for now? Can I be typical and say my husband? No? Someone well known then?
I’d have to say I like Matt Damon, he is very talented actor/producer/writer I think and well, his looks aren’t too bad either.

Who were/are your crushes?
Was completely, COMPLETELY obsessed with Johnny Depp (21 Jump Street era) and Val Kilmer (Real Genius / Top Gun eras) in my early-mid teens. I think I personally wore out the local video shop’s copies of all Val Kilmer’s 80s films
As to now, I’m not sure I can honestly say I have a crush on anybody in that obssessing-thoughts, fantasy-plotlines kind of way (including my husband, because living with someone builds love and caring, but undermines fantasy!) There are a few actors / musicians whose performances I always enjoy and who I find attractive (Hugh Jackman, I be lookin at you
but I’d be hard pressed to label them as “crushes” in the same way.
Does this make me super boring?

I had a major crush on Greg Brady. I actually had a bit of a falling out with my BFF because she said he was HER boyfriend. We made up – my BFF – not Greg Brady.

How fun. I loved Growing Pains as well. My first crush was Ricky Schroder from Silver Spoons. And I was a HUGE New kids on the block fan. I even went and saw then in concert when I was at Uni – taking my younger cousin as a cover

These days it’s Brendan Fraser (and has been for over 20 years), followed closely by Ewan McGregor.
ah yes I remember Ricky, it was funny seeing him grown up later in life is one of those crime shows (I think?). I love NKOTB too and their ‘Step By Step’ song is on the Just Dance disc and my youngest (and I!) love dancing to it.
