The next Listmania linky is sharing what you do in a 24 hour period.
I thought I might as well do it the next day so if I stuffed up or forgot halfway during the day I’d have another chance at it. Thankfully I did ok! Get prepared for lots of photos.
Eyes open at 5.25am. Eek. Early right? I choose to get up at this time as I find I work better at that end of the day, usually I am alone so its uninterrupted time.
So I work on the School Memory Book post – I plan my posts in advance and always know what I’m writing about so it’s quite easy to sit down and type away.
An hour later, I am showered, hubby has just let for work, 1 boy is up and I’m getting breakfast ready. Nutrigrain and yoghurt for the boys and Ancient Grains (Freedom Foods) and coffee for me.
Ironing Time – school shorts for the eldest lad.
This is a common occurance, coffee in the microwave getting reheated… I don’t often get the chance to drink a full cup of hot coffee in one hit.
School drop off done and hot footed to the local shopping centre. Here I order my eldest’s birthday cake for his party. (not gluten free – it’s a party for his school friends)
Then to Kmart for lunchbox/bag shopping – yes we are already onto lunch box number 3 for this year and no I don’t want to talk about it. The one good thing is I got this one and it was on sale for $5.
Then onto Coles for a few things but I always have to check the health food aisle for anything new… and look, San Remo Gluten Free Cannelloni!
Home again and the washing gets put out
And I put dinner on… Slow Cooker Sausage and Bean Casserole
Tiniest Man has an early lunch as it’s 3 year old kinder day, sandwich and fruit are on the menu
I prepare his snack for 3 year old kinder. Cheese, Crackers, Grapes and Strawberries. I haven’t been able to find a Mickey Mouse lunch/snack box anywhere for sale in Australia so I improvise and put a sticker on a plain container for him.
My lunch, rice cakes, egg and tomato on 2 and pickles and cheese on the other 2.
Since the dishwasher is still dead, time to do the dishes.
We duck into the library on the way to 3 year old Kinder – Tiniest Man loves this rug as he jumps around it naming the colours of it. We pick up a few books while we are there.
Drop off time for 3 year old Kindy, waiting for the leader to open the door…
Back home for me, one kid at school and one at kinder. I get time to myself for 90 minutes once a week so I make a cuppa and indulge in a couple of Reese Miniatures
and watch West Wing on the telly. It’s my time so I don’t feel guilty about this time to have to myself, no work or housework gets done.
Since my eldest and I rarely get one on one time together, I am trying to spend the hour between picking him up from school and picking his little brother up from 3 year old kinder doing something fun. A date at the local coffee shop goes down well.
We sit down for a few minutes, I check emails and boys have icy poles, the cat always parks himself close to me…
School reader time for my Grade 2 boy. I am really happy and proud with his reading ability.
Screen time for the boys, Mickey Mouse is the favourite
Hubby is home and it’s dinner time.
Kids are in bed but I am back to work as I have deadlines, off I go with a hot chocolate
and a few hours later it’s bed time, my book is ready to read but why is there a balloon on the bed? Our youngest leaves us treasures every now and then, usually it’s cars or a toy. Tonight a balloon.
And then it’s lights out, forgot to take a photo of the time (was planning to), ended up being pretty wiped.

Loved reading about your day. As you know I do these day in my life posts quite often but it was so fun to read about someone else’s day. Looks like a good mixture of productivity and relaxation.
I love reading your Day posts Libby and now I appreciate them even more, I couldn’t imagine doing this weekly! It was a great mixture of both and even though I wish there was more relaxation sometimes…
Your day looked really busy! I love how you did something fun with your 1 on 1 time with your son. I loved you photos!
Thank you! He loves it too as he usually gets a treat just for him. It was great the way the times worked out like that.
Eek! Getting up that early wiithout a small person forcing you to! I am so impressed. It was very interesting looking at a typical day. Glad you got to spend some one on one time with both boys.
It is good getting up that early, I get things done and start the craziness of school mornings on the right foot, makes such a difference. And thank you, I enjoy my time with my boys.
Loved this post! and we are using the same lunchbox this year = love them so far!!!
The lunch box is a winner and I’ve been back to buy extra’s in case Kmart don’t sell them again.
your dinner looks so incredibly delicious it made my mouth water xx
Thanks!
ohhh what lovely blue skies you had!! ps love the coffee mug!
Thank you and yes the sky was particularly lovely that day. Which mug? I am guessing the ‘I Love NY’ one? I admit it’s my favourite and even more so as its a bucket so I get lots in there.
I find the mornings are the best times to work as well – I love the peace & quiet before everyone else gets up. We had sausage and bean casserole in the slow cooker last week too. Food options were low, so mine was just throwing everything that I had in to the slow cooker and hoping it worked out! It’s great that you had a date with your son as well.
Slow cookers are the best aren’t they? Love the chuck it and call it dinner, some of the best meals are prepared like that.
90 minutes of time-to-self sounds so glorious. Glad you spend it doing something you love without feeling guilty!! Nice improvising with the lunch container and sticker…I’m going to remember that one next time I’m searching high and low for whatever it is that my kids are “in to” at any given moment…
I am just glad I could find Mickey Mouse stickers. Yes that 90 mins a week me time is a great time of the week.
Busy day! I’m gonna be on the lookout for a Mickey Mouse lunch box now! I’m sure I’ve seen them before. Week 3 of school & we’re on to lunch box #2.
There are heaps of Minnie Mouse lunch boxes but it seems Mickey loses out. Would love it if you could let me know if you see one…
