Disney Live Mickey and Friends Music Festival Show Review

Today my family and I were lucky enough to have the opportunity to check out the first Melbourne show of the Disney Live Mickey and Friends music festival.

My 2 year loves the mouse guy and it was a thrill to be able to take him to see his favourite  character in another medium. Sure we have Disney Junior and the DVD’s, books, t-shirts and his own little Mickey to cuddle but it’s great for him and other Mickey fans to see him and his friends another way.

The show on a whole was great. I appreciated the voice over at the start warning us all what the special affects were ie smoke and some darkness. My boys were both glued to the action for the first 40 mins and then they had an intermission. Not sure this was ideal as the second act didn’t have my 2 year old enthralled at all. The intermission lost the momentum. I noticed other families around me also taking their toddlers out as they were fidgety during the second half. My almost 7 year old though was able to enjoy it all.

This the view from our seats. Unfortunately there were some parts of the show that I couldn’t see due to the location of the characters being right on the side of the stage and as we were seated on the far left we couldn’t see them. I would definitely make sure that you are purchasing tickets make sure they are in the middle range of seats.

As with all these events, there is lots of over priced merchandise available, programs were $16, bucket of popcorn $15 and fairy floss $13 as well as many other items. I had warned my big boy that we weren’t buying any of it beforehand so he knew not to expect anything. We took plenty of our own snacks and treats  so that was fine.

Mickey and his friends was a great show to take the kids, you could hear the characters properly, lots of dancing and music, it was an entertaining show. I thank Disney and Cavanagh PR for the chance to attend. Check Disney Live website for more information.

Disney Live! Mickey Mouse Music Festival Giveaway Winner

Thank you to those of you that entered my Mickey Mouse Music Festival giveaway. It is time to announce the 2 winners!

Congrats Kathy and Judith you are both off to see Mickey and his friends!

Kathy wrote: My favourite Disney character is, and has always been, Donald Duck. I adore his grumpiness and I identify with his jealousy of the ohsoperfect Mickey. My 8 year old loves Minnie Mouse and my 6 year old, Daisy Duck. (They enjoy their shoes :-)As for the toddler – she is a diehard Pluto girl. But then, she loves dogs…

Judith wrote: Miss Five loves Minnie Mouse because she’s a girl and she wears lovely dresses. Girls always rule over boys she tells me. My favourite is Pluto. We lost our beloved pet dog six months ago, and I still miss her. Pluto reminds me of her … a lot. The 26 January will be my 40th birthday and I can think of no better way to celebrate than at a Disney Live Show!

I will email the 2 of you shortly.

Thanks again everyone, remember to check out Disney Live for all ticket and show details.
